*Google Docs has been around for a few years now and I thoroughly enjoy using it quite often. Why not store your documents in the cloud instead of on your PC where something could very easily happen to it? And now, images and videos can be uploaded to Google Docs. This is a wonderful place for collaborative projects and chatting is available at the same time.

*All of the sites above are FREE online web 2.0 tools that can be used by any teacher in any class. You'll notice that we did not suggest particular projects to be used. We would rather have the teachers and their class decide upon the specifics as to how they will take part in our global education. We would rather let the teachers be creative in deciding what kind of project they want to do and then together we will decide upon which one of these tools will best fit their needs. Three of our main concerns will be creativity, innovation and what benefits the students most.
Below you will see how one of our teachers has integrated technology into his curriculum.

As you can tell, I am very excited about technology and embrace it as one of the most valuable resources in education. Here are a few things I did with it last semester and some that I plan to do later this semester.

1) Skyped with John Whaley, international artist in Maine. He took my advanced art students on a tour of his studio, talked about his techniques of painting and drawing, showed them his artwork and explained it and finally answered their questions. They are still talking about this today.
2) I did a podcast with Adams from Ghana in West Africa.
3) I had my whole curriculum for my Arts & Technology class online in my blog, http://artsandtechnologyclass.blogspot.com/ . Included in it were all my lessons created as PDF files and stored in Google Docs and online tests created in Testmoz.com. All they had to do was click on the hyperlinks to the lessons and tests.
4) All my Arts & Technology students had their own personal blogs in which they posted their best pieces of work done in class. Here is an example of one of them - http://solomonsartstech.blogspot.com/ .
5) I taught the first online technology course for Columbus County Schools. This was done using Udemy.com.
6) My advanced students did some podcasts about their original artwork. It can be heard at http://wchsadvancedart.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2010-10-06T07%3A33%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=7
7) My Arts & Technology class did a collaborative project with Ms. Brown's third grade class at Cerro Gordo Elementary. Hopefully we will have the result published in book form in the spring. We'll be using either Lulu or Blurb.
8) My Arts & Technology class did a project in which they incorporated QR codes within a picture. Within the codes were written secret messages about their pictures and could only be read using a QR reader which I happened to have. http://qrcode.kaywa.com/
9) Ms. Britt, business teacher at WCHS, and I are planning doing an integrated class using Wetoku.com. Her class will be studying the digital elements of art and mine the elements of fine arts. After we discuss both online, the students will compare and contrast both.
10) I want my advanced students to send Mr. John Whaley messages of thanks for his Skyping with us. These messages will be done using BubbleJoy.com.
11) I am presently working on an interactive YouTube video in which four of my advanced students are talking about and asking questions about their own artwork. And yes it will be totally interactive. The viewer will be able to choose which student to listen to first and then take a multiple choice quiz presented by that student.
12) Hopefully my advanced students will be able to go on a field trip to Barton College in Wilson, N.C. to view the N.C. Scholastic Art Exhibit including two gold key pieces of my students, Shronda and Deven. While viewing the show I'd like to make the experience totally interactive by creating a podcast quiz that they will be able to listen to on their Ipods. The quiz will be uploaded to Itunes.
13) Later this semester my Art One students will be creating famous artist reports using Glogster in which they can include animations, photographs, text and music.
14) And finally I plan on having some of my students do more VoiceThreads. These will be either an exhibition of their work or possibly tutorials that they make themselves.
